Sudan Seeks to Control Fishing in the Red Sea
Khartoum - Sudanese authorities revealed efforts to prevent commercial fishing in its territorial waters of the Red Sea.
The authorities conduct surveys to find out the quantities and types of fisheries, and their locations, especially rare species, to protect them from extinction.
Minister of Agriculture in the Red Sea, Ibrahim Abu Fatima said that his ministry is working to protect fisheries in the Red Sea, and preserve the marine environment.
Abu Fatima said that the state government, through the Zakat Chamber and Farmer Bank, provided 100 fishing boat to low-income hunters, to improve their living conditions. He indicated that the administration of fisheries in the ministry was directed to conduct guidance operations for fishermen on modern fishing methods, and how to deal with modern tools and systems, to upgrade and develop the fishing sector in the state.
