Mailing in Sudan

Sudan's Pioneering African Country in Mail Privatization
 Khartoum- Minister of Science and Telecommunications Dr. Eisa Bushra, commended the big advance made in the mail service sector in the country due to the restructuring of the sector.
Addressing the opening session of the mail policy workshop at the telecommunications tower held in cooperation with the European committee for the organization of mail and the COMESA, Dr. Bushra said detailed the developments achieved in the mail sector and pointed out the %271 increase in incoming packages, %266 increase in outgoing packages compared to 2010 before the restructuring, %246 increase in express mail in general, %200 increase in express mail abroad, and 642 in express mail locally.
Dr. Bushra directed the participants in the workshop to address the challenges facing the ministry's set goals in the mail sector including the creation of an effective and mail service, providing comprehensive and high-quality mailing services, and benefitting from different technology applications to enable customers to enjoy a better service.
Dr. Izz Aldin Kamil, director of the National Telecommunications Corporation, said the corporation exerted many efforts to enhance the mail service in Sudan through adding articles to the Telecommunications and Mail Law of 2012, facilitating benefiting from technology, signing a number of agreements including one with the major mail operator, and inaugurating a customs lounge for mail inspection at the Khartoum International Airport.
The workshop was also addressed by the representatives of the European Mail Organization Committee and of COMESA who praised the development in the mail sector in Sudan and stressed the importance of developing relations among international and regional organizations to cope with the development in the international mailing services and the effect they have ob rural and urban areas all over the world.
