Sudan, CAR Sign Agreements to Establish Railway and Roads
Khartoum - Hamid Mahmoud, deputy minister of transport, roads and bridges, revealed that his ministry signed agreements to implement several projects with the Central African Republic (CAR) including the establishment of  a railway line and  the construction of a road from Um Dafoog to Bangui. He affirmed that his ministry is keen to implement all the agreements and protocols signed with CAR.
This came into light in a meeting which brought together the transport ministers from both countries.
Shobai Abba Zain, CAR minister of transport, discussed infrastructure problems and the lack of development projects in roads and railway in his country, which he attributed to low financing.
He called on Sudan to stretch roads into his country to help transport passengers and goods and to resume air transport as soon as possible.
We asked for help regarding the training of technical staff in the transport field and we discussed the possibility of exporting CAR's goods through Port Sudan to the world.
The Sudanese minister of transport declared his country's full readiness to cooperate with CAR to enhance relations between the two countries.
Makkawi Mohammed Awad, Director of the general railway corporation, said there are agreements that have already been signed with the CAR, and he called for securing funds to establish the railway line between Nyala and Bangui.
